“Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.”

Supervising others is not a job for everyone. Some people are not leaders. I feel that leaders should be able to lead and motivate. There should not be any doubt as to who is in charge.

Leaders should lead.

  1. Create a website. I’m sure you know by now that every business needs a website (at least I hope you do). You need a website that’s well designed and easy to understand. You also really need it to represent what your business does, who you are, what sets your business apart from its competitors and how clients and customers will benefit from your products and services.
  2. Get and stay on your customers’ radars. Do this, and you’ll drive traffic to your website. Ways to stay in front of your customers include creating a blog, article marketing and Enewsletters; these will keep your target market educated, show them your expertise and give you more traffic to your site.
  3. Participate in social networking. This is one of the simplest and cheapest ways to market your business. One tip: Join as a person as opposed to just a business owner; that way, other individuals and business owners will want to participate in your conversation. Remember, social networking is all about giving.
  4. Take part in face-to-face networking. Although it may seem true, networking online is not the only networking you should be doing. Participate in any live networking events in your area. Go into each conversation with the objective of connecting with other business owners you can assist and who can assist you.
  5. Organize your own events. For instance, you can host a seminar, panel or workshop that emphasizes your expertise. You can also have a Customer Appreciation Day. Additionally, giving away promotional items such as T-shirts and pens with your logo is an effective marketing tool.

When it comes to marketing your business, your success relies on you being able to provide a message that is clear, consistent and compelling; so make sure you are being consistent.
