Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and blaze trails.” This quote was meant to challenge people to rise above the status quo and go beyond what is expected or even anticipated; it is a mantra, Ms. Kezia M. Williams has followed since 2002 when she first became committed to being politically involved.

Kezia M. Williams is a native of Richmond, Virginia and proud alum of Christopher Newport University (CNU), where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and journalism. Currently, she works as a senior analyst for CENTRA Technology. She also works as President of her company, Intimate Arrangements, LLC, an event planning for couples (www.intimate-arrangements.com).

In addition to working full time, Kezia is deeply committed to public service and subscribes fully to the concept of servant leadership. Most recently Ms. Williams was appointed National Events Director for a politically and civically-engaged nonprofit organization. In this role, she managed the operations of over 16 national committees located in seven different cities and worked with approximately 100 volunteers to achieve strategic goals and objectives. She was also instrumental in raising over $150,000 in small contributions from donors nationwide in less than 90 days. She achieved this monumental accomplishment by starting with a strong vision and zero-dollar budget.

Kezia has also served as a community organizer for Generation Obama-Washington, DC, where she was instrumental in mobilizing over 200 volunteers in the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia to become politically engaged by making phone calls, knocking on doors, planning events, and hosting rallies during the 2008 presidential elections.

Kezia was also the youngest member to serve as a commissioner for the City of Alexandria’s Human Rights Commissioner (2005 – 2008) and the first Director of Political Engagement for the Northern Virginia Urban League, Young Professionals Network (2005-2007). She is also a member of the Alexandria Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and a political columnist with emPower magazine.

Kezia also writes for her own blog, Politics, Power and Pumps (www.politicspowerandpumps.blogspot.com).

Kezia has over nine years of political event planning and fundraising experience, a skill she began developing in 2003 after founding a campus chapter of the NAACP at CNU.

As founder of the Capital Cause, Ms. Williams hopes to see the organization develop a new generation of donors dedicated to supporting local nonprofits financially and through public service.

On her free time, Ms. Williams enjoys reading in Potomac Park or enjoying an old episode of West Wing with a cold root beer and a small, box of lemonheads.
