These words come from Brian Hickey, one of two teens responsible for involving high school students and teenagers in an effort to sponsor children’s education in the villages of Uganda.
Through Engeye Teen Connection – an offshoot of Engeye Scholars – has high school students thinking about a bigger, more global picture, when it comes to taking their opportunities and using them to be a help to others.
It is a great story not only of the youth generation being selfless and altruistic – especially with all the pressures and distractions of being a high school teen – but also of the value of supporting and encouraging some type of service in the lives of youths that we all may interact with daily. It was two mothers that exposed their two children to this idea of service and this project in particular, and then their motivation that took it and expanded on it.
I encourage you to check them out for some inspiration – you are never too young or the issue to out of reach to make a difference.
You can check out their blogsite and follow the story of their travels to the village and you can also check their fan page out on Facebook!
