Disclaimer: THIS IS NOT ABOUT MARRIAGE

So for the past couple of months I’ve had friends talking about being single and how they can’t find mates. It’s all in the news the percentages of Single Black Females to Black Males. How Black males are dating outside the race…blah blah blah… There are even some comical videos out there generalizing what women want out of man. What a woman wants varies per woman and can’t be generalized. It’s also been stated that women, especially black women’s standards are too high and even have a laundry list of things she wants her mate to have. They even have the nerve to say that these standards and lists are unrealistic. On some scheme of things that maybe true but those standards and lists are there for a reason! I know mine are.

2 Corinthians 6:14 states: Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

So you keep asking yourself:

Why am I alone?

Why wasn’t he /she the one?

You need to be asking yourself:

What did you we really have in common other than the physical attraction?

Where were we mentally?

Even more so on a spiritual level?

So when you start feeling down and out about those standards and laundry lists of things, reevaluate and see if they tap into those characteristics that will make you EQUAL to your partner. If they do then stop worrying about what the media and society says. Do you, make yourself happy! Society and the Media is not the one that has to be in this relationship.

Now don’t think that this verse only refers to a male/female “loving” relationship. I mean really where do you think the saying “Bird’s of a feather flock together” could’ve gotten its origin.

Not only have my friends have been talking about mates, they have talked about how their friendships have evolved over the years. When you grow and change and others don’t that means that you all are no longer on the same level. Which equates….. UNEQUALLY YOKED!

So surround yourself with people that have similar goals, desires, mentalities and spiritual ideas as you and everything will all come together.

God Forgives, I Don’t.
Socialize This Post:ShareTweet “God forgives, I don’t.” Wow. That’s a pretty strong statement, but to me there is some truth to it. I am the first to admit that I hold  grudges. I’m still mad at Eric Peterson for punching me in the 3rd grade. I will take a dispute to the grave. We [...]
