Have you ever wanted something so bad you could taste it? You know what you had to do to get, and you did it? But for some odd reason you didn’t reach it? During your quest did you ever LOOK BACK!? I mean look back, questioned your decision and/or goals, or even backtracked? Well just maybe that’s why you didn’t reach what you wanted, because you looked back.
We always here the story of Sodom and Gomorrah and Lot and His Daughter but not often of Lot’s Wife.
If you read the entire story of Sodom and Gomorrah, you will read of Lot and His family’s escape. (Genesis 19:15-26)
The most important verses of this story are:
17And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.
and
26But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
The Angels of the Lord came to set Lot and his family free. When the wife turned back for who knows what reason she was not allowed to receive her blessings.
Lot’s wife and the fact of not looking back even appears in the New Testament (Luke 17:28-32). Here Jesus speaks to the Pharisees and the Disciples of when the Kingdom of God is to come.
Luke 17:32 states: Remember Lot’s wife.
Jesus is reminding us what happens to those who look back after God has given instructions.
If that doesn’t convenience you not to look back take a look at Luke 9:62
But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
Once you are in step with the Lord, and he’s given you the mission, and you start to move forward, DON’T LOOK BACK!
