Sincere’s Thought – Be Better
Sincere’s Thought – Be Better

Don’t strive to be like someone else, strive to be better than everyone else.

I realized this when I was playing with Boogie and he said that he wants to be just like me.  I quickly told him, “no son. You don’t want to be like me. You want to be better than me.”  Right after I realized that I was sounding just like my father, I thought about all the times my father told me the same thing.  You should never strive to be just like someone else, strive to be better than everyone else.

Far too often people want to be just like everyone else whether it’s a rapper, singer, politician, teacher or whomever they look up to and think is cool. The thing is, instead of being just like them you should want to be better than them.  That’s how successful people became successful, they looked at a person that was at the top of their game and decided to be better than them.  To be the best you must beat the best.

Growing up in DC, being different was the thing to do. If I wore something or did something that someone else was doing then I was ‘biting their style’.  This is no longer the case.  You see, nowadays everyone wants to do whatever they see that works.  No one wants to step outside the box or their comfort zone.  The only way to have longevity and success is to be original and different in some aspect.  Yes, if you follow the current trends you may gain some attention but to remain relevant you must separate yourself from the crowd.  My father always told me to “Never let it rest until your good is better and your better is best”.

Socialize This Post:ShareTweet By Ali Brown According to the U.S. Government Small Business Administration’s home page, about 50 percent of small businesses fail within the first five years.
