You know, one of the big upsides of living in the Northeast used to be that we didn’t have to suffer from the Hurricane Season. Well, so much for that.
Extremely strong winds and heavy rain pounded the Northeast this weekend, knocking out power to more than 450,000 customers, diverting international flights and toppling a boom crane at an Atlantic City casino construction site.
According to the Associated Press, the winds downed trees and power lines throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. The New York City area and southern New Jersey were among the hardest hit, with wind gusts of up to 67 mph (just short of a category 1 hurricane) recorded and power cut to a combined 335,000 customers.
Hopefully, this inclement weather is just a sign that spring time is coming soon. Because seriously, I can’t take this weather anymore.
