As I surveyed the news as of late I have become somewhat intrigued by the tea party movement. They say that they are not a separate party rather a group of people that are tired of the way the government is run. Okay. Fine. I myself have issues with certain government policies and procedures so this idea isn’t all that foreign to me.
One of the problems that I do have with this organization is that they don’t all seem to be on one accord. They are supposedly a grassroots organization but every grassroots organization that I’ve been a part of, most recently is the one that helped elect President Obama, has been organized and with one single mission. If you just watch them on the news or in the media you’ll see that some of them are for one thing yet another section is totally against it. I really don’t think they know what they do or don’t stand for.
The main issue that I have with them is that they seemed to have chosen Sarah Palin as their mascot. Even though this is not an ‘official’ party if she does decide to run in 2012 I’m sure these nuts will back her and vote for her on whomever ticket she lands on. Let me repeat that. Sarah Palin is pretty much the face of this organization! This woman is so ass backwards that it’s not even funny.
Now lets take for example that she, and many other republicans, have a problem with Pres. Obama’s use of a teleprompter yet every president has used one since it’s invention. Does that make sense? Nope. I guess it’s better to write it on your hand instead.
At first I thought Tea party folks were a funny little group with their whole Boston tea party themed tax day demonstrations but the more they try to legitimize the cause the more foolish they seem. I can’t see them becoming a legit opposition to the democratic or republican party. I don’t see them as a threat to the independent party either. The best chance they have is to latch on and align themselves to a republican that already has a base and is just as wacky as they are (e.g. Sarah Palin)
While I think these people are foolish I am keeping a close eye on them because when one or more fools gather together only comedy or tragedy can ensue. I’m hoping they lean more towards comedy. We’ve already see what fired up folks for a crazed cause can do. Ever heard of a little group called Al Queda? I’m not calling the Tea Party movement terrorists but I am saying that when you put a number of misguided but willing to do anything for the cause individuals under the wrong leadership things can and will go wrong.
People, we must begin to think for ourselves and do what is right for us and our families. Don’t be like the sheep blindly led to slaughter. Without knowledge we are destined to perish. Never underestimate the power of knowledge. Think, discuss, and engage.
