Some things never change…
- The NRCC added 14 new candidates to its “Young Guns” program and promoted 15 of its Young Guns to “Contender” status.
However, the Boston Phoenix notes that of the 14 added, one is a woman; of the 15 promoted, one is a woman.
“There are now four women in the program, out of 64 candidates. That’s an even lower percentage than the current female makeup of Republican House members — which is below 10%.”
That’s right, less than 10% of GOP House members are women. In a country of over 50% women, the Republican Party’s members could be mistaken for Congressman from the 1890’s. They are all white. They are all Conservative. And they are all men. Granted, there are some exceptions, but there are no African American GOP House members, there are 5 minority House GOP’ers overall, and there are less than 20 out of 200 House GOP women. Obviously, the party that opposes women’s rights and minorities rights will not have many minorities or women, but that is something the GOP must change if they ever want to win America back.

- A week after JD Salinger’s death, this wonderful article in The New Yorker is the best I can suggest to look back upon Salinger’s legacy.
- How misogynist can Super Bowl ads get?
- Total props for calling yesterday’s Super Bowl. If you would recall, I said Peyton Manning would throw an INT (and he threw one that ended the game for the Colts). I said the Saints would win on the back of a great performance from Drew Brees, and Brees was named Super Bowl MVP yesterday, cementing his name with the great quarterbacks of the era.
- And finally, the best Super Bowl I saw yesterday BY FAR was the Google ad. It’s pretty simple, and it’s pretty awesome.
