With all that has been going on in domestic U.S. policy with health care and the economy and financial regulation and home buyers markets, and with all that has been going on with U.S foreign policy focused on Iraq and Afghanistan, I find it interesting to diverge to a topic which seems to have lost its doomsday appeal it once carried.
I am talking about climate change.
What? Climate Change?
Yes, it seems like this topic fell by the wayside, as other issues started messing with our money and our prosperity. I mean, bump having a planet that is healthy – my bank is not nearly as stable as it used to be!
There is so much in the world to focus on and improve – so it can be overwhelming to think about all these issues at once. But I was reading an article today which showed that some countries were backing out of their once aggressive stances on reducing carbon emissions by 2020 and 2050, heading into an upcoming UN Summit where climate change will be the topic at hand.

"The Power...Is Yours!"
This of course is directly tied to the idea of economic growth and strength. In a time where everyone is depending on businesses to maintain and for economies to bounce back with a vengeance, no one really wants to hear that they need to continually find ways to change the way they do business because Gaia, the spirit of the Earth, is crying. And sadly, we don’t have our own toothpaste colored superhero to come and force people to be more conscious about the earth’s well-being (man that cartoon was way beyond its time! Whoever wrote that concept up was a prophet of the 90s! lol).
It’s too bad. We are a world of limited resources and wavering attention span. I imagine that this will be a topic that will only continue to receive half-hearted attempts at reform, simply because it is one sacrifice too many for many developing and developed countries that want desperately to see macro-level prosperity.
I guess this is not really so bad though. Now that NASA has found water on the moon, I imagine we can start working on that plan B. Get our economy right, and then salvage what we can from this dying planet and go live on the moon! If that doesn’t work, then we know Mars is a good bet. So really, global warming is not a problem at all!
Climate change is for suckers! Let’s get this money right and head to the moon! Lunar States of America baby!!
