“My aim is not to provide excuses for black behavior or to absolve blacks of personal responsibility. But when the new black conservatives accent black behavior and responsibility in such a way that the cultural realities of black people are ignored, they are playing a deceptive and dangerous intellectual game with the lives and fortunes of disadvantaged people. We indeed must criticize and condemn immoral acts of black people, but we must do so cognizant of the circumstances into which people are born and under which they live. By overlooking these circumstances, the new black conservatives fall into the trap of blaming black poor people for their predicament. It is imperative to steer a course between the Scylla of environmental determinism and the Charybdis of a blaming-the-victims perspective.

Engaging the world………Engaging ourselves…….

Community, the cornerstone of America and the backbone of American Life. Harlem,NY…..Chinatown, San Francisco……Little Italy, New York…..These examples of communities may represent racial segregation in some aspect but the also reflect individual- communal self respect and pride.

I want my fellow African-American peers to look carefully at the Charts and Statistics above.

Study It closely because even if it is not you it affects you.

This blog post will not rant about why or how.

This post will not have to  the information above says enough.

Change cant come to America fully until we Change ourselves.

African American Men:

  • Pull Your Pants Up and take that mess out of you mouth…….You Look Foolish
  • If you can father a child then you can be a father to your child………Real Men Do.
  • Dope game makes money with no foundation to hold it up……….Working Hard for your money honestly will benefit you better.
  • Go to school learn how to invest your money, purchase property, and accumulate wealth………….Close this achievement gap.
  • Respect those who came before they hold wisdom that can benefit you greatly……….Wisdom is greatest wealth a man can obtain.
  • Know your history it makes you who you are……………The past is the past but your past defines your path
  • Wrap It Up and stay test……..Not because BET says so but because you love you.
  • Learn about Respectable Men in Power and channel their examples into your own actions……..You never know what you’ll learn.
  • Have pride in yourself and your environment……..you rep your “hood” all day….Now take Care of It
  • Use your Head….be aware of the world around you…….Stay Informed of Current Issues and Events
  • Never Settle…..Mediocrity is never a friend…..Striving helps you meet Achievement and Success
  • Lead the causes you believe in and cultivate that passion positively

African American Women

  • Respect Yourself…………Definitions never apply to you. You are not 3-5 Letter words
  • Your body is Not a Reflection of Intelligence
  • Don’t be afraid to show a man where his “fist” is…….You know what I’m talking about.
  • Again know your history it makes you who you are……………The past is the past but your past defines your path
  • Learn from respectable women in power and embrace their examples….Don’t be afraid of being a leader.

Remember that these bullet point doesn’t just apply to African Americans……It applies to us all. We must all as a single nation grow wiser and establish truths that we hold as self evident. Believe in yourself and others will follow…..Humility, Integrity, and Value aren’t just words.
